Stanton County Recognized as StormReady® and Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador by National Weather Service

Stanton County, NE – Stanton County Emergency Management has been officially recognized as a StormReady® community and certified as a Weather-Ready Nation (WRN) Ambassador by the National Weather Service (NWS), marking a significant achievement in local preparedness and public safety.

The certifications were awarded following Stanton County’s completion of all program requirements, including establishing 24/7 warning and operations capabilities, implementing multiple methods for receiving and sharing weather alerts, and hosting public education and training initiatives. These efforts are designed to enhance the county’s ability to respond quickly and effectively to all forms of extreme weather.

“Preparedness saves lives,” said Mike Frohberg, Stanton County Emergency Manager. “Our StormReady and WRN certifications show the public that Stanton County is committed to taking proactive steps to keep our residents and responders informed and safe during severe weather.”

Becky Kern from the National Weather Service office in Valley, Nebraska, was on hand to present the recognition.

With nearly 98% of all federally declared disasters being weather-related—resulting in hundreds of deaths and billions in damages each year—StormReady and WRN Ambassadors play a critical role in helping communities build resilience. These programs promote advanced planning, public awareness, and strong coordination between emergency managers and meteorologists.
