Stanton County Emergency Management Receives Donated
cyclonePORT Weather Station from SDS Weather, Inc.
Stanton, Nebraska — The Stanton County Emergency
Management Agency is excited to announce the recent installation of its second cyclonePORT
weather surveillance system, which became operational on July 1, 2025. The
system will significantly enhance the county’s severe weather monitoring
capabilities.
This system was donated by SDS Weather, Inc. in an
effort to support the growing need for their technology in the great state of
Nebraska. “Given that Stanton County EMA’s director, Michael Frohberg, has
proven to be a constant resource for communication and collaboration on the cyclonePORT
project, it was a perfect fit for this sponsorship.” said Michael
O’Sullivan, Director of Account Management for SDS Weather, Inc.
“The addition of this system directly supports Stanton
County’s ability to monitor severe weather in real time,” said Frohberg. “It
also enhances situational awareness for our partners at the National Weather
Service in Valley, Nebraska, by providing reliable local data and live video
that can assist in forecasting and warning decisions. We’re extremely grateful
to SDS Weather, the team behind RadarOmega, for their generous donation and to
Stanton Telecom and Town & Country Technologies for helping make this
project possible.”
This commercial-grade station delivers live-streaming video
along with comprehensive weather data, including lightning detection,
temperature, humidity, dew point, sustained wind speed and direction, pressures,
wet bulb globe temperature, and rainfall measurements.
A high-definition live camera — which will overlook the City
of Stanton — is scheduled for installation in the near future. The system was
deployed in partnership with Stanton Telecom and Town & Country
Technologies, who are hosting and supporting the station’s operation.
This cutting-edge technology will allow emergency management
agencies, fire departments, 911 centers, hospitals, and others to improve
real-time awareness of hazardous conditions, all in pursuit of their shared
mission to protect the lives and property of Nebraska residents and visitors.
With this addition, Stanton County EMA joins a national
network of more than 200 cyclonePORT systems, all integrated with
National Weather Service radar data to provide highly accurate, real-time
weather insights. Prior to this technology, local officials had to rely heavily
on spotters and public reports to confirm hazardous weather. “We still utilize
spotters, because radar data from Valley, doesn’t see what is at ground level
where we are. However, the addition of this system, will allow us real-time data
and video to see things when spotters may not be readily available.” said
Frohberg.
The public will soon be able to view the live-stream camera
feed and real-time data by visiting www.cycloneport.com. Additional information about RadarOmega
and the cyclonePORT product line is available at radaromega.com and cycloneport.com.
