Stanton County Emergency Management Agency Awarded $15,000.00 for Drone Program
October 26, 2022
Stanton, Nebraska - The Stanton County Emergency Management Agency has gotten a little boost to upgrade their drone program, thanks to a $15,000.00 donation by The TC Energy Foundation Build Strong Program. The money will be used to purchase a DJI M30T Thermal Drone.
The TC Energy Foundation’s community giving program, Build Strong, invests in organizations that are integral to local communities, and their business. Whether they are providing grants to organizations, awarding scholarships to students, or sponsoring a local event that brings community members together, their goal is to help build strong, vibrant communities through mutually beneficial relationships. The Build Strong program operates across North America, and provides funding to non-profits, registered charities, associations, municipalities, social enterprises, Indigenous groups, and foundations that: equip first responders with important tools and resources, improve access to education, protect and enhance the environment, and alleviate poverty. In 2021, TC Energy contributed $28.5 million to communities across North America.
“I am extremely grateful to The TC Energy Foundation for this donation to our drone program. When we started this program over two years ago, everything we had purchased was used. We’ve maintained that equipment and continue to use them in the field. However, the purchase of a new M30T Thermal drone has many more benefits to our agency. Such as, longer flight times, flying in higher wind gusts, extreme heat / cold temperatures, and is also waterproof to fly in the rain. This gives us advantages to perform search and rescue’s, fire overwatch for responder safety, mapping, mitigation, and many other uses in the various weather climates that Nebraska has. Currently, there are no State or Federal grants available for the purchase of this equipment. However, having a partnership with The TC Energy Foundation helps us obtain the most up to date and advanced equipment to help our community and our region.” – Mike Frohberg, Director of Stanton County Emergency Management Agency
